Who is a Journalist?

So who is a Journalist then ....

Is that person who collects ad disseminates all that information from current stories of people, issues, events. Etc. but there are different types of journalists some are called reporter, as their name implies they create a report that will be later used to be transmitted in the mass media whether printed or broadcasted. Although they are expected to report in an objective and unbiased way so the public can make their own decision there are some reporters who use criticism and use their own opinions about the different subjects. There are also columnists who write a regular piece to be feature on magazines or news papers. But the term includes many others like photographers and editors.

But far from the basic definitions of a journalist I see them as people who are willing to risk many things in order to keep the public aware and to educated them so we all can make informed decisions and can be educated in general terms. They are always eager to find the truth on every story; They are the unmasked warriors seeing the truth. While thinking about it my friend came up with an interesting definition; journalist= the gossiper of the neighborhood. Taking these words away from any negative concept and then thinking about it I realized that in a way this is true. The journalists inform us of things we don’t see, of the stories of our “neighbors” then we decide if those stories affect us or not in anyway.
